If you are
staying in the Fiscardo area you should certainly pay a
visit to the restaurant Veggera. The harbour side
undoubtedly has its attractions, but if you are looking
for good food, great service a fantastic view and some
of the most reasonable prices on Kefalonia, look no
further! |

The Menu |

The
menu is interesting and varied, choose from variety of
seasonally available fresh fish or an impressive range
of home cooked
local specialities such as Kefalonian meat pie, or, if
you’ve satisfied your craving for Greek food, try one of
the specials. A particular favourite is the fillet of
chicken breast in a cream and feta sauce. Calorifically
prohibitive, but you are on holiday aren’t you?! Add the
excellent and abundant local wine and you’ll have an
evening to remember. Unless it’s the last evening of
your stay, it’s extremely likely you’ll pay another
visit or two. |

The View |

The
view from the terrace is quite marvellous. If you arrive
in time for the sunset and a table on the terrace,
you’ll enjoy the spectacular sight of the sun dipping
towards the sapphire sea with the white cliffs of the Lixouri peninsular, as a romantic backdrop. In early and
late season the evenings can be chilly, so do take a
cardigan if you wish to sit outside. |

Greek Nights |

If you really wish to sample a truly
Greek night, then perhaps visit on a Saturday evening.
This is a Greek night with a distinct Kefalonian
flavour! Part of the attraction is the succulent
spit-roast pork. Additionally, there will be a local band playing authentic
local music whilst you eat. Quite often there is dancing
too! This has proved a very popular evening so booking
is essential. |

Veggera is
situated just outside Vassiliades on the main road
towards Argostoli. (This would be around 15 minutes if
you were setting off from Fiscardo.) Drive through
right throughthe village of Vassilikades and Veggera will be the first building on
the right hand side. |
