Dafnoudi Beach
|
|
|
Dafnoudi
is a beautiful secluded beach at the bottom of a steep
natural valley. Shade is limited when the sun is high so
remember to take a beach umbrella. There is even a small
and very cool cave at the waters edge that one can sit
in when it's too warm. Unless you are a keen walker, the
distance from Fiscardo to Dafnoudi will probably be
further than you wish to walk, especially whilst
carrying all your beach paraphernalia. |
 |
|
The
easiest way to go is by car or motorbike and the route
from Fiscardo is very simple indeed: (If you are still
determined to go on foot, click here for the "walking"
directions.) |
|
|
Take
the main road out of Fiscardo as far as Antipata (the
first village you come to) turn right at the taverna and
follow the road down. |
 |
|
If you set
your trip meter at this stage, you should find the beach
turning at 1.2k. The road winds downwards and after a
particularly sharp right hand bend; you will pass a
beautiful but dilapidated old house on your right |
 |
Continue
past the house for another 500 metres or so. At this
point look carefully for a small, white gravel footpath.
There is also a makeshift sign in the tree pointing to
Dafnoudi. This is where you should leave your transport
and follow the rough path down the valley to the beach. |
|
The walk
down the valley is particularly beautiful and quite
dramatic as you emerge from the trees onto the pebbly
beach. The pebbles are quite large and not particularly
comfortable to lie on, so an air bed or rubber mat is
advised. |

Please
note. Because Dafnoudi is secluded it is popular
with naturists. In fact Dafnoudi is mentioned on a
naturist website. If you are a naturist, please be
discreet. Older Greek people, especially when
accompanied by young children, do not appreciate
displays of nudity. If you are at all offended by
naturists, please remember that nudity is not legal
on Greek beaches and you are perfectly within your
rights to ask them to cover up! |
